Exploring the salt marshes is all about getting closer to nature and meeting people. It gives everyone an opportunity to get an overview of a living and working environment.

Terre de Sel is there to raise awareness of the need to protect nature, using a sensory, scientific and human approach.

All our exploratory tours end with a visit to our exhibition centre (the entry price is included in the price of all our tours), which provides information about the work done by the salt worker and the ecological riches to be found in the salt marshes through the seasons. If you're between 6 and 12 years of age, Terre de Sel offers the Young Adventurers game. Come and solve a puzzle using the information you find in the exhibition centre and you'll go home with your diploma as a salt magician or an ornithological detective.

Upstairs there's a mezzanine with a panoramic view, where we host art exhibitions in 2-month cycles on themes related to the marshes.

All our salt marsh tours are on foot and are led by salt marsh specialists: salt workers and naturalist guides.

The group rate is applied per person for a minimum of 18 people. The price implies a grouped payment. If there are fewer than 18 people in the group, you will be invoiced the minimum package price for a group of 18 people.

Learning about the profession: tours led by a salt worker or a naturalist guide

”Profession: salt worker” (possible in english) :
this 90-minute tour takes you around the different parts of the salt marsh to learn about a profession that has remained traditional. You'll see how the water circuit operates, how the salt is harvested and what the work involves in each season.

”Flower sea salt, the pleasure of taste” (in french only) :
This 2-hour tour takes you around the different parts of the salt marsh to learn about a profession that has remained traditional and the gastronomic virtues of the “white gold”. Adults and children alike will enjoy tasting some of the products.

“A brief introduction to salt” (possible in english) :
this 45-minute tour takes you round the salt marshes, where you'll see how the water circuit operates and learn how the famous Guérande salt is formed.

”A ramble through the marshes” (in french only) :

This is a 3-hour circuit for good walkers, from Terre de Sel to the Le Croisic Straits, through a 12-kilometre maze of private salt marshes.

“Professional environment tour” (in french only):
this 2-hour activity is led by a naturalist guide and takes place around the salt marshes, with a look at the ecological aspects of the salt marshes (functioning and ecosystem). This is followed, in the exhibition centre or in a room, by a discussion ranging over subjects specially chosen in relation to your work and particular needs.

"Salt and nature” (possible in english) :
this 90-minute tour takes you around the salt marshes and shows you how they operate. You can also observe the plant and animal life. We provide binoculars.

“Sweet and sour tour” (possible in english) :
the first part of this 2-hour visit involves a tour lasting 45 minutes to 1 hour with a salt worker or naturalist guide, followed by a “sweet and sour” aperitif with a tasting of salt products and local products on our mezzanine and terrace. We'll take care of the organisation and service.
